Pedigree SA Champs & Dog Expo Info Page (updated 17 April 2008)
NB: We will be hosting the KUSA National Agility, Dog Jumping and Flyball at The Good Hope Centre, together with the Pedigree SA Agility Championships and dog expo.
Please Note:
KUSA NATIONALS
1. Obedience, Carting and Breed will be happening at a different venue - That will happen at De Kuilen High School
2. Dog Jumping, Agility and Flyball will be happening at the Good Hope Centre.
3. Please Note that there is an extra KUSA National Flyball event on Saturday that was not in the schedule. Also note that there is now a flyball demo event on Friday as well. In total 3 Flyball events. Demo Friday. KUSA Nationals on Saturday. Champ show (De Kuilen) on Sunday.
4. We have been committed to minimizing the number of potential multi venue, multi discipline clashes that are possible and we apologize for any that may still exist for some people.
5. Obedience and Carting handlers will be able to do the Nationals in De Kuilen and still come over to compete in the SA Agility Championships. They should also be able to make the KUSA National Dog Jumping in time, but will have to forfeit the agility rounds or alternately forfeit obedience / carting and do all the jumping disciplines.
6. All disciplines will be held at De Kuilen for Sunday's Champ Show
7. There will be a benching area for your dogs. As far as possible we would like all handlers to bring their own crates with for the event.
8. Your dog will be secure, safe and in a sectioned off area, away from the public.
9. All handlers must please display good discipline and be ambassadors to the sport.
SA CHAMPS
1. Please attend Thursdays dinner and briefing
2. Practise round will be Friday morning
3. Round 1 & 2 will be held in the late afternoon or early evening. This event will be filmed for Super Sport. The late start is for the sake of the sport itself, not the competitors. We want to ensure maximum audience, for promoting the sport on television, for generating income at the door and to please our sponsors.
4. If you are not doing any of the filler events, on Friday, such as Flyball, you can attend the practise and then take the rest of the day to relax, arriving again later for the competition.
5. On Saturady the SA Champs round 3 & 4 will be later in the day after the KUSA National Agility and Dog Jumping events. From an audience perspective the focus of the weekend is on the SA Champs, hence it being a climax near the end of the program. Having this later also gives those who do breed, carting and obedience the option of still doing the SA Champs as well.
GENERAL
It will be vital that all competitors keep informed about happenings through regular visits to this website and by adhering to any rules or guidelines that may be enforced to ensure spectator, dog and handler safety.
Only competing dogs will be allowed in the arena. Crating and benching facilities will be on offer in a secure area. No dogs may be tied up anywhere nor left unattended out of the benching areas.
All handlers are responsible for cleaning up after their dogs!!! Bags will be available.
Handlers are expected to walk their dogs before entering the ring. Remember that national television will be watching you!
What we all need to bear in mind is that we are using this event to showcase our dogs and their abilities to the general public. The show must be run in such a fashion as to allow for maximum spectator appeal.
